Who can apply?

There are some requirements! You have to be:

  • Creating content for: YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Twitch, musical.ly, Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, or a personal blog.
  • Uploading at least two videos a month, consistently for six months, prior to the grant application date.

  • Garnering less than 150,000 views consistently.

  • Currently residing in the United States.

  • Submitting an online application.

How can I spend the money?

However you want. If this is just going to help you make rent, that's fine with us. If you want to get a new camera? Go for it. New lights? A drone? Hiring an editor for a big project? Yes! If you buy a bunch of lottery tickets with it, well, that would be disappointing, but we can't stop you.

Can I apply more than once?

We will be drawing from the same pool of applicants throughout the entire program. So, if you apply now, you might still get a grant several months from now. However, if your situation has changed, you're working on a new project, or your numbers are different, we encourage you to reapply so we have the most up-to-date information.

What are you getting out of this?

Honestly, this company was started by creators who have seen this business get more difficult. We've been saying for years that we think companies in this space should find ways to give support to upcoming creators and then we realized we should put our money where our mouth is.

We want to help this community in the same way it has helped us.

Will you use our information for anything?

We're going to use it to decide whether to give you money but, no, we won't use it for anything else or sell it to other people or even use it to tell you about VidCon things that are happening.

Will I be a Featured Creator if I get a grant?

No. VidCon decides on Featured Creators using a machine learning algorithm that...I'm kidding. VidCon's staff decides who will be a Featured Creator based on a ton of factors like how helpful people have been on panels previously, how engaged their community is, how positive their impact is, whether they bring a perspective we won't otherwise hear from, and a bunch of other stuff. We're imperfect and imprecise, but that's because we're people. We want to be clear that this program is entirely separate from invites to VidCon.
